CamCat Publishing is a small, independent house that publishes all types of genre fiction. While the editorial staff enjoys reading a wide variety of stories, what they are ultimately looking for is an "unputdownable" book manuscript. This is a manuscript that grabs them as they are reading and won't let go. If a book hasn't been properly edited or if the writer needs to work on his or her craft, it immediately shows and typically results in a rejection. Founder Sue Arroyo says she won't complain if a manuscript entices her to stay up all night reading. In addition to a great beginning, Arroyo also looks for a voice that captures her, whether that's the narrator's voice, or the main character's voice.
