Residents in Western Australia have started evacuating their homes as Cyclone Ilsa, currently a category three storm, approaches the coast between Broome and Port Hedland.
The cyclone is expected to intensify to a category four storm before landfall between Thursday night and Friday morning.
The Bureau of Meteorology predicts winds of over 250 km/h and rainfall between 200 to 400 millimetres, which could cause flooding.
