SPIRITUAL SIGNIFICANCE OF A TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE:
Ancient cultures viewed the dusk-like darkness prompted by the passing of the moon between the Earth and sun, temporarily blocking the sun’s light, as a sign of the gods’ anger or even their impending departure.
WHAT IS AN ECLIPSE?
Eclipses occur when the sun, moon, and Earth line up. How they line up can cause two types of eclipses: a lunar eclipse or a solar eclipse. A solar eclipse happens during the new moon when the moon passes between the earth and the sun, blocking our view of at least part of the sun; a total solar eclipse (like the one happening on April 8) is when the moon completely blocks the sun.
WHAT DOES AN ECLIPSE MEAN IN ASTROLOGY?
Eclipses hold a special place in astrology. They’re believed to be moments when we step into our fate and destiny. These celestial events align with the North and South Lunar Nodes, pushing us to move toward our life path and break out of our comfort zones. Eclipses are also known to bring breakthroughs and shake up our lives.
It is also a moment when we cannot access our intuition, as the moon, which governs our intuition, is obscured in the cosmos. It's essential to surrender to the universe during this time and let things unfold. Eclipses illuminate matters that need to be worked on and can reveal secrets.

ASTROLOGICAL MEANING OF A SOLAR ECLIPSE:
During a solar eclipse in astrology, the sun and the moon unite in a sign on the Nodes of Destiny. This particular eclipse combines the sun in Aries and the moon in Aries together on the transiting North Node - meaning it's about what we are pulling into our lives. Mercury, moving through its retrograde journey in Aries, will connect with the solar eclipse.
With Mercury retrograde in full force, the eclipse's effects might be delayed slightly, so we may not feel its impact for a few weeks, leaving a “wait and see” energy in its path.
We can find the light within ourselves in the darkness of the solar eclipse and move towards making our passions a reality.
