French UN peacekeepers on Sunday (28/5) regained control of a vital bridge on Sarajevo after five Bosnian Serb soldiers occupying a UN checkpoint abandoned it. UN officials in Sarajevo were furious about the treatment of UN personnel seized by the Serbs since Thursday's NATO air strike on a Serb ammunition dump outside Pale. UN spokesman Alexander Ivanko said the Bosnian Serb army under the control of General Ratko Mladic was "acting like a terrorist organisation" by chaining unarmed military observers to potential NATO targets.

SOT alexander ivanko, un spokesman: the bosnian serb army is
behaving like terrorists, threatening to kill peacekeepers. all
these acts can be called acts of terrorism, flagrant violations of
geneva convention. general mladic calls himself a professional
soldier, but can't control own soldiers. unprofor demands the
unconditional release of soldiers held hostage.
