In this weeks arty YouTube video, I try out two sets of Posca paint markers for the first time. I also wanted to create a birthday themed art piece as it was my birthday this week.
The Acrylic pens are really juicy and easy to use especially on the 100% canvas board. They are so smooth to work with. They are really opaque which makes it easy to layer and even correct any mistakes. You can see in the video the pens do explode at times but it was easy to clean up and correct.
To get the pens working, you shake the pen to activate the paint, then pump the nib to get the paint flowing. I swatched out the pens off camera and I was a little disappointed with the pale colour set as they are not as pale as I thought. I still went with the colour combination for my art piece and I was still quite happy with how it looks.
I used the standard paint pen set to create shadows and contrast and the white paint pen to create highlights.
As I can't have cake at the moment, I wanted to at least paint one!
I loved the composition of this piece and loved combining the paint markers to get a semi flat art style which is really not my style.
I am still doubting the decision to use Pale green for the back ground as it is a lot more vibrant than I was expecting (I would say it is NOT pale green) but it does make the cupcake pop and works well with the colour combination.
Let me know in the comments down below, what you think of this art piece and what colour combinations would you use with these paint pen sets?
