READ ALONG TO PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH AND TO LEARN THE MEANING OF BURST YOUR BUBBLE: So have you ever played with bubbles? As a kid did you ever get water and soap and mix it together and then blow bubbles and they would float around in the air and then you would poke them and the bubbles would burst? Well we have a saying in English, "burst your bubble". When someone bursts your bubble it means that they tell you some news that makes you realize something you thought was true isn't true. A great example would be if you thought you won the lottery. Maybe you thought you picked the right five numbers and you think that you've won the lottery because you picked the right five numbers, but then someone might burst your bubble and tell you that you read the last number wrong and you actually didn't win the lottery. So that would be you being disappointed because someone burst your bubble meaning that they told you something that meant what you thought was true wasn't true.
Usually before you burst someone's bubble you use the phrase, "I don't mean to burst your bubble, but..." So I'll say that again, if you are going to burst someone's bubble you usually say, "I don't mean to burst your bubble, but you read the lottery numbers wrong.", or, "I don't mean to burst your bubble, but you didn't actually win the lottery." So, anyways, hopefully no one burst your bubble today in any way, and I hope that you are having a really, really good day.
