Sansei Technologies, the Japanese manufacturing company that owns S&S Worldwide and Vekoma, allowed us to film a private demonstration of J-deite RIDE, the life-sized transforming robot at their IAAPA Expo show floor booth.
Inspired by Transformers and drawn up by legendary mechanical designer Kunio Okawara of Gundam fame, the fully functioning robot seats two (driver & passenger) and converts from a sports car that can travel up to 37 mph (60 km/h) into a 12 foot (3.7m) tall robot that can roll at half that speed, walk and even spin on a dime.
J-deite RIDE, a joint venture between Asratec, Sansei Technologies, and Brave Robotics, has been in development since 2014 and the companies are hoping one will be greeting you at a theme park in the very near future.
