It is extremely challenging to change gyms culture. Often times traditions, old-school techniques, or generational information continues to be set in stone and it feels like an uphill battle.
But, it is worth the work to make sure that the gymnasts, coaches, and parents are all happy, healthy, and high performing.
In this video, I break down some of the most common ways to improve gyms culture, including what we did at our facility over the course of five years to make real progress.

→ About SHIFT:
Hey, my name is Dave Tilley.
I was a collegiate gymnast and have been coaching gymnastics for 15 years. I work as a Sports Physical Therapist, Strength and Conditioning coach, and optional gymnastics coach in Boston MA. I’m also really fortunate that I get to travel the world and teach about performance and sports medicine concepts.
I started SHIFT in 2013 with one goal. Help people change the lives of athletes they work with.
