It's high drama in Parliament over Rafale, quite literally. Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman on Jan 4th tore into the Congress for making false allegations against the Rs 58,000 cr fighter-jet deal. In a marathon speech which lasted 2.5 hours, she attacked Congress president Rahul Gandhi, even going to the extent of calling him a "liar". The Defence Minister said the deal worked out by the NDA Govt was at least 9% cheaper than the UPA's price. She attacked Rahul Gandhi for calling PM Modi a "chor", even as she invoked the humble family background of the PM and herself. Rahul was quick to fire back, accusing Sitharaman of running away from the core questions and instead relying on histrionics to win the sympathy of the House and the nation.
