I invite you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a spring walk on the Eiffel Bridge in Girona.
Pont de les Peixateries Velles (Old fisheries pedestrian bridge) is a bridge in the municipality of Girona that is part of the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.
The construction was carried out in 1877, with a budget of 22,500 pesetas. The contractor was the Gustavo Eiffel company from Paris, which at that time also built other bridges for the RENFE. At the public auction held on January 6, 1877, Ignasi Serrallach from Barcelona and La Maquinista Terrestre i Marítima from the same place also attended. It seems that the works were delayed and the Eiffel company did not finish until July 1877, when the load test was carried out. Some gift lanterns from the construction company will be installed there. In 1959, an asphalt pavement was placed on a conventional slab that deteriorated the structure. That is why in 1979 the pavement was restored and replaced by oak and the structure damaged by humidity was reinforced.
Girona was one of the filming locations for season 6 of the Game of Thrones series. Many streets and buildings served as places in Braavos and King’s Landing, and the interior of the monastery was used as the Citadel in Oldtown.
