I’ve always been a proponent of cutting threads after drilling. In a perfect world, it’s nice and easy cutting before hand, but what I’ve found is that jewellery is rarely absolutely perfect, and I like my beads to all be as similar size as possible. Especially on more organic designs, or around curves, this can cause issues if you drill before as the amount of metal left for beads can change if you’ve cut your thread beforehand. The alternative is to not open up your holes as much to keep bead size even but this can lead to different spacing of stones, and pave areas not looking full enough in my experience. By cutting after it allows you to adjust depth if needed to leave more or less metal where needed, while still keeping the outside of the border cut in line. It’s tricky, but worth it long term to learn if you ask me 👌
