The Palais Vest is an inner-city shopping center in Recklinghausen (North Rhine-Westphalia), which is located on the edge of the old town directly on the historic Wallring. Only opened in September 2014, the Palais Vest is one of the most modern shopping centers in Germany and, with more than 40,000 m² of sales space, is also one of the largest centers in the city center in the Ruhr metropolis.
The Löhrhof Center becomes the Palais Vest
Together with the British Henderson Global Investors Ltd. mfi management für immobilien AG will build one of the most modern shopping centers in the Ruhr area at the Löhrhof Center location. The Recklinghausen Arcaden will feature over 90 shops, restaurants, specialist health stores and consumer-related services.
The successful concepts of the Löhrhof Center will be found in the industry mix of the Recklinghausen Arcaden, supplemented by new, lively ideas from the current retail world.
Instead of the old and well-known panel facade of the Löhrhof Center from the 70s, the Recklinghausen Arcaden will present itself as a jewel box of Recklinghausen urban development with the all-round successful exterior design by the renowned Auer + Weber + Associierte office. Löhrhofplatz is also undergoing a contemporary urban transformation.
The history of the Löhrhof Center: One of the first shopping centers in Germany
The Löhrhof Center in Recklinghausen, opened in 1975, is one of the first shopping centers in Germany. Around 35 shops are currently available to customers, including nationwide successful chain stores like MediaMarkt, Hennes & Mauritz, dm and Deichmann, but also local specialists from the Vestischen district. Although trading has taken place at this location for over 30 years and despite multiple renovations, the property has lost its regional appeal in recent years.
