*Eguisheim* (in German Egisheim) is a French commune located in the administrative district of Haut-Rhin and, since January 1, 2021, in the territory of the European Community of Alsace, in the Grand Est region. This town is located in the historical and cultural region of Alsace.

Spared by the First and Second World Wars, Eguisheim was the subject of an important policy of restoration and rehabilitation of its heritage from the second half of the 20th century. Today, the village offers a magnificent spectacle of colors and architecture: the red, yellow, blue, simple or half-timbered facades, the tiles in the shape of a so-called "beaver tail" sometimes also colored and constituting patterns on the sloping roofs, balconies and flowery fountains…

Since 2003, Eguisheim has been ranked among the *Most Beautiful Villages of France* _(Les Plus Beaux Villages de France)._ In 2006, the village won the gold medal of the Entente Florale, the European competition for towns and villages in bloom.

In June 2013, Eguisheim succeeded Saint-Cirq-Lapopie on the winners of the France 2 program Le Village Favorite des Français

With around thirty active winegrowers, Eguisheim is currently the village with the most winegrowers among the Most Beautiful Villages of France!
