The SmartFlower is a ground-mounted solar panels that has been innovatively designed to resemble the properties of the sunflower. Most notably, it has 5 ‘petals’ and is able to track the sun in order to maximise absorption of solar energy, just like sunflowers do.

🌻 It was inspired by the heliotropic properties of a sunflower. Heliotropism is when plants move in response to the direction of the sun.
Overall, this is an extremely innovative design. Being ground-mounted, it also solves the problem of rooftop solar panels as some houses may have limitations and not be able to install rooftop solar panels. Unfortunately, at this point in time it’s on the more expensive side and may not be a ‘smart’ option for those on a budget, but nevertheless it is a sign of more innovation to come, and as this space grows prices will continue to drop.
