This is a review of the SnoreMeds which shows you what you get when you buy SnoreMeds, how to fit the mouthpiece, actual results from a patient and how to clean the mouthpiece.
What you get:
----------------------
SnoreMeds comes a this box. The outside of the box gives some information about how to fit the mouthpiece. Inside the box comes a spatula to hold the mouthpiece with during fitting, a case which includes the mouthpiece in it, and directions. The directions show you how to fit the mouthpiece using the spatula and hot water. The directions also show you how to clean the mouthpiece and give some precautions about it.
The mouthpiece comes inside its plastic case which can be used to store the mouthpiece in when not in use.
The mouthpiece is made of soft material. It has two holes on the front which are used to hold the mouthpiece with using the spatula during fitting. The top of the mouthpiece is the part with the curved indentation.
Fitting:
------------
To fit the mouthpiece, first boil water and turn the stove off or pour the water into a mug. Place the mouthpiece into the water by holding the spatula which comes with the mouthpiece. Keep the mouthpiece submerged in the water for 18 seconds. After 18 seconds, remove the mouthpiece and place it in your mouth. First, position the mouthpiece on your lower jaw and bite down. Move your lower jaw 3 to 5 millimeters forward and use your index fingers to make a tight mold around your teeth.
When you are done fitting, rinse the mouthpiece under cold water, or place it in a bowl of cold water, for 30 seconds. This helps set the impression of your teeth.
This is the mouthpiece after it has cooled. You can see impressions of the teeth. The front airway may collapse during the fitting if the spatula was not fully inserted. This will require you to breathe through your nose while wearing it.
Airway opening:
-------------------------
The mouthpiece has an airway opening of 2 millimeters but if the airway collapses during fitting, which is likely, you will not be able to breathe through your mouth while wearing it.
Actual results:
------------------------
Before SnoreMeds, a patient recorded snoring.
After the first night while wearing SnoreMeds, the patient continued to record snoring while they slept.
The patient then refit the mouthpiece, advancing their lower jaw further forward during fitting, to see if this would reduce their snoring.
After refitting SnoreMeds, the patient noticed a reduction in snoring intensity and frequency for the following 3 nights.
These results show that with refitting and increased jaw advancement, the patients snoring was reduced.
From an oxygen saturation report from the patient before wearing SnoreMeds, they had many interruption events.
After wearing SnoreMeds, the oxygen saturation reports from the patient showed that the patient was able to breathe properly each night but better after the refitting.
Cleaning:
---------------
You can clean SnoreMeds using the spatula, a toothbrush and tooth paste under warm water. You can also clean SnoreMeds using a Polident tablet or by using mouthwash.
Overall:
------------
Overall, SnoreMeds may reduce snoring when the jaw is advanced to its maximum position. The airway holes on the mouthpiece are likely to collapse, requiring you to breathe through your nose.
