Rachel Schneider, who was born in 1927 in Daugavpils, Latvia, testifies about the mass murder of Jews from Daugavpils. On Sunday, June 29, 1941 announcements were distributed throughout the city ordering all the Jewish men (aged 18-60) to report to the market square. During the evening all those who had appeared were taken to the prison. The shootings began the following day. By July 7, 1942, 1,125 prisoners had been shot in the railroad public garden, next to the prison. The victims included many Jews.
