A glimpse into 2016's Perfect Pairing events at Kinzie on the Rocks inside of Jewel-Osco!
In looking for ways to educate our consumers on how to cook meat and seafood and pair them perfectly with drinks, Jewel-Osco along with various beer, wine and liquor vendors, hosted the Perfect Pairing cooking classes.
Together, they developed hands-on, three course meals that paired products from deli, seafood, meat, produce, grocery, and bakeshop departments with matching beers, wines and liquors!
The first Perfect Pairing was with Blue Moon Brewery and Chef Rafael Perez of St. Augustine College. Guests made cajun seasoned tilapia fish tacos with a mango pico de gallo.
The second Perfect Pairing was with The Prisoner Wine Company, Ruffino Prosecco, Nobilo Icon, Franciscan Estates and Svedka Vodka and Chef Julius Russell from a Tale of Two Chefs. Guests made a pan seared cod in a white wine sauce with an arugula, peach side salad.
The third Perfect Pairing was with E&J Gallo and celebrity Chef Sharone Hakman. Guests made thai green curry with shrimp for appetizer and espresso crusted ribeye for entree! Yum.
The fourth Perfect Pairing cooking class was with Moët & Chandon and celebrity chef Emily Ellyn where guests made their own hand rolled ricotta gnocchi, among other delicious items.
All Perfect Pairing cooking classes provided an appetizer meal, entree and dessert and paired them with an alcoholic beverage. Most also started with a welcome drink or ended with a special toast as well as a take home basket full of goodies!
Guests were delighted at each event, and we are looking forward to more in 2017!
