Previously, I Load Balanced my slow ADSL with a TP-Link TL-R470T+ but I've upgraded to 2x 100/40 Fibre To The Node connections, so I turned to the Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite. Amazon US [ Ссылка ] or Amazon UK [ Ссылка ] or Ebay [ Ссылка ]
My video was noticed by a journalist at The Age newspaper in Melbourne (also associated with The Sydney Morning Herald). I was interviewed and photographed for a new story that appears at the following two links:

The TP-Link TL-R470T+ is the same load balancer that Jerry over at Barnacules Nerdgasm uses. The only down side to load balancing with that router is that it only has 10/100 ethernet ports. The area I live in just got upgraded to Fibre to the Node internet so I was able to upgrade both my old ADSL 5mbps/1mbps connections to 2x 100mbps/40mbps connections.
So in order to combine the 2x internet connections at their full fibre speed, I needed a router capable of load balancing wan connections using gigabit Ethernet ports. And that's where I found the Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite.
I've heard of Ubiquiti before due to their Wireless technologies which I caught on Linus Tech Tips and after some advice from a networking friend, I ordered it off Amazon and couldn't be more happy with it.
NBN is fast but the one thing all Australians need to realise is that data based in Australia is always going to be quicker than getting it from overseas. There's a bandwidth limit on the cables that run under the ocean between the continents. It's just like a big hose really. Peak times for Australia will mean it's harder to get more through to overseas. Local traffic will be fine due to the NBN infrastructure. That's why Netflix set up shop in Australia :)
Also, think of it like this. 6pm on a Friday. Everyone's home. A lot of Australian family's might be using US VPN's to watch Netflix US because they have more up to date shows and movies. Streaming traffic is going to fill up that hose. That's not even touching on Torrenting, Web Streaming Sites, YouTube (A lot of YouTube content is stored locally but some are still located on overseas servers).
That's a basic rundown of why it's probably so slow. Connecting to services that use multiple connections will help with speed but it's nothing to do with the NBN. It's our hose (Southern Cross Cable). Both go through Hawaii before hitting either San Jose or Seattle. Watch Snowden for the significance :)
Fun fact, the capacity of the Southern Cross Cable is 5.4 Terrabits p/s. If you took 50-60,000 NBN 100/40 connections running full speed, that would use that entire bandwidth.
