Thanks for watching the Consumer Lifestyle Channel. Today I am going to be making a very special cake to celebrate Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month which takes place during the month of October and I'm going to be using the Edible Metallic Pink Glitter from Quality Sprinkles to do that, and I will show you step by step what to do with it, but that is a little later on. First we have to make the cake.
Now, I'm going to be using a boxed cake mix. I always make my boxed cake mix healthier by substituting the oil with applesauce and the eggs with ground flax seeds. To replace the oil with applesauce, use a one to one ratio, if the recipe calls for 1/4 cup oil, replace that with 1/4 cup applesauce. For every egg, substitute one tablespoon of ground flaxseed mixed with 3 tablespoons of water, mix them together first and then put into the rest of your mix. Add one cup of water then blend everything together.
I poured the batter into my pan and I am putting that into my preheated oven, always cook on the middle shelf, if you use the bottom shelf it will burn the bottom of your cake and if you use the top shelf it will burn the top of your cake. So I am going to let it bake for the recommended time and I let it cool. After it has cooled, I put the chocolate icing on and put it in the fridge to harden up.
It's time to decorate it with the Edible Metallic Pink Glitter and make the pink ribbon design. What I did was to draw and cut out this stencil of the pink ribbon to create the pink ribbon design on the cake. Just do that very carefully.
Normally when you think of cake decorations, you think of something that is sugar laden, hydrogenated, fat filled, full of artificial colors, flavor and chemicals. But that is the complete opposite of the Edible Metallic Pink Glitter, in fact all of the products made by Quality Sprinkles have no artificial colors (made with natural color), No Sugar added, No Gluten, No GMO, No Nuts, No Dairy Products, No Hydrogenated Fats, No Artificial flavors, No Artificial Sweeteners, and are suitable for Vegans, are Kosher Pareve and Halal. I'm really glad to be able to decorate this cake and not feel bad about the sugar laden decorations.
