Designers disagreed about whether we can live without plastic at the inaugural Dezeen Day conference, with architect Arthur Mamou-Mani saying "we still need" the material and designer Nienke Hoogvliet arguing that "we shouldn't produce any more".
Moderated by Dezeen's editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs, the panel featured Arthur Mamou-Mani, Nienke Hoogvliet and designer Natsai Audrey Chieza.
The panel discussion, which took place as part of the Dezeen Day conference on 30 October, centred around the questions 'how can we solve the problems of plastic waste and what materials could replace it?' and 'are bioplastics and biodesign the future?'.
