The FN Five-seveN pistol is controversial for many reasons. Paradoxically, some people believe that the 5.7x28mm round fired by the FN Five-seveN will defeat body armor, while other people think that the 5.7mm round won’t get enough speed out of a pistol to go through armor. In this video, James Reeves tests several different kinds of 5.7mm ammo against Level II, Level IIIA, and Level III body armor to see which - if any of them - has enough power to get through both soft and hard armor. In order of ascending strength, we try SS197SR “Sporting Rounds”, then SS195LF, then SS198LF, and finally, SS190. How powerful is the 5.7mm out of a pistol, really?
