미세먼지 피해 年 10조원…OECD "2060년 韓 타격 가장 심각"
Air pollution in Korea is taking a toll on the nation's economy.
New study has put a number on that cost -- 10 trillion won, or about 8-point-9 billion U.S. dollars a year.
That's according to data from local environmental authorities, scholars and the OECD, which took into account the effect of pollution on health, leisure activities and industrial production.
Some local experts think it could be more than 10 trillion won, considering the ripple effects of pollution and the yellow dust that blows over from China every spring.
Korea has the worst air pollution among OECD countries.
By 2060, the group estimates it'll cost the nation 20 billion dollars a year and knock six tenths of a percent off its yearly economic growth.
