Wade Boggs, a former Major League Baseball player known for his skill as a third baseman and his impressive career statistics, has been the subject of a longstanding urban legend that suggests he was capable of drinking 50 beers during cross-country flights. According to series star and writer Charlie Day, who discussed the tale on Jimmy Fallon's show, Boggs claimed that the actual number was 107 beers in a single day. Day explained that Boggs would start drinking prior to arriving at the airport and continue throughout the flight and after landing. While the story has become part of Boggs' legend, it is worth noting that the veracity of this tale has been called into question, and Boggs himself has said that while he did enjoy a beer or two before games, he never consumed as much as the legend suggests.
