To mark International Women's Day, here is a recording of one of Jeanne Demessieux's Twelve Preludes on Gregorian chants - the 'Veni Creator'. This piece takes the form of a brief toccata and strikes an ebullient mood throughout. I would like to dedicate this recording to my wife - thank you for always being there for me.

Demessieux's remarkable talent as an organist with an immense technique has been recognised for many years. At home in a variety of repertoire, she made some incredible recordings that leave us in no doubt of her formidable abilities. Her creativity as a composer is also rightly being recognised, and although the collection of compositions she bequeathed to the musical world is small, they demonstrate her versatility and artistry.
