I often think of an old short tale by Clive Barker, the creator of Pinhead and the writer-director of Hellraiser. "Pig Blood Blues" is the title, and you can read a gorgeous comic version by Chuck Wagner, Fred Burke, and Scott Hampton right here. Take a few minutes, I'll be waiting for you when you return.
Anyway, old Clive, he penned a sentence in this story that I kept thinking about while I watched the final episode of Raised by Wolves' incredible second season. "This is the state of the beast...to devour and be eaten," the passage says.
