Katra, which is the base camp of the holy temple of Mata Vaishno Devi, has released 18 people arrested by the police in the ongoing protest against the ropeway project. After which there was an atmosphere of joy in the city throughout the night. The Jammu and Kashmir administration announced their release on Tuesday night and formed a four-member committee to talk to the protesters. The work on the ropeway project has been suspended till the talks with the committee. A spokesperson of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangharsh Samiti said that some leaders among the 18 arrested persons were released from Reasi and Udhampur jails at around 1 pm. When they reached Katra, hundreds of people gathered there to welcome them.
