Not only English speakers struggle with Latvian. Latvians struggle with English as well. It's not easy to learn a language as a foreign language when nobody around speaks it. The answer is to keep going, look for the best methods and support.
In this video, I am interviewing Liene Lielmane who is a Latvian translator.
I first met Liene in 2005 when I was starting my new translation company. Liene had recently graduated from a translation college and was looking for possibilities to have in-house training/work in a translation company. That's how we got to work together for a short while.
Yet, recently Liene became my partner at DODAM translation company in Latvia, and now she's gradually switching from being a freelance translator to becoming a manager.
This channel focuses on the Latvian language: pronunciation of sounds, words, and sentences, the composition of words and sentences, useful phrases and alike fun things. Ilze Be is a translator. She has also taught Latvian for US Peace Corps volunteers in Latvia and English at Latvian schools.
