(19 Dec 2017) Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko lit up the main New Year Tree in Kiev on Tuesday, marking the beginning of the Christmas fair.
The tree was delivered to St. Sophia Square from the Carpathian Mountains.
Organisers decorated it with garlands and more than a thousand lanterns.
The kiosks at the Christmas fair offer visitors local street food and drinks, crafts and souvenirs.
The central Christmas fair will stay opened until 14 January 2018.
Musicians, dancers and singers will perform there every day.
