A beautiful sunset on a warm June evening at East Beach. Hear the waves crashing on the shoreline and the rocks in the Chesapeake Bay.
Not familiar with East Beach?
I find it convenient to park on 21st Bay Street or East Beach Drive and walk onto East Beach to enjoy the sunset. It's unique every time. You often hear aircraft overhead from Norfolk International Airport or the local military bases. The beach is rarely crowded and is dog friendly. Dolphins swim along the shore and seagulls and sanderling birds are often present. You can find interesting specimens washed up on the beach such as whelk egg casings, skate egg cases (mermaid's purses), stones, seashells and seaweed. It's a great location for walking long stretches of shoreline and is a relatively popular place to run along the shore and to fish.
I thought this video would be helpful for people planning a trip, or for those who miss East Beach and just want a visual reminder of its beauty. :)
