Excavations in the brick church tower on Jamestown Island have unearthed the west wall to the 1617 church. This was the same church that the first elected officials would convene at to legislate two years later in July of 1619. Finding the west wall to the church has allowed us to confirm the location of the east end of the structure. With this new evidence we now know the location of the physical space where the first representative government met in the east end of the church.
