The F-16 Fighting Falcon, also known as the "Viper", recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. The F-16 first flew on January 20, 1974, and has been a key part of U.S. Air Force operations and international defense since then.
The F-16 is one of the most successful fighter jets of all time, with an estimated 19.5 million flight hours and at least 13 million sorties. About 4,600 F-16s have been built, and production is still active, with 140 more to be produced.
The F-16 is used by the United States Air Force, four of its NATO partners, and the Pakistan Air Force.
