As nationwide COVID-19 cases decline and vaccinations ramp up even further, there are more signs that much of Canada is emerging out of the pandemic's third wave.
The number of active infections across Canada are down 25 per cent from the third wave's peak in April, with provinces like Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia already past their peak cases as well.
So could a potential fourth wave later on hinder plans to ease restrictions? Eric Sorensen looks at the risks to be cautious of and why there's still optimism for a less restrictive summer.
