Aerogel is usually made by chemical method, but I made it by greenway ( reusing waste newspaper) in the laboratory.
It has excellent properties like lightweight, Oleophilicity( affinity towards oil), hydrophobicity( repellent to water).
Because Of the Oleophilic nature, it is used to mitigate oil spills.
Nowadays, the production of carbon-based materials from waste biomass has attracted intensive increasing attention due to it's low cost, sustainability, nontoxicity to humans, etc.
