Here are some interesting facts about Batu Caves in Malaysia:
The limestone that makes up Batu Caves is over 400 million years old.
The 42.7-meter-tall golden statue of Lord Murugan at the entrance of the caves is the world's tallest statue of the Hindu god. It was built by Indian artisans using 350 tons of steel and 1,550 cubic meters of concrete.
The 272 wooden steps leading up to the caves were installed in 1920 to make it easier for devotees to reach the temple. Before the steps were built, devotees had to climb the hill to the temple.
