STORYLINE
Iran''s nuclear programme will be on the agenda when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets Russia''s President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladmir Putin in Moscow this week.
"I see Russia as an important power and an important friend to the State of Israel," Netanyahu told ministers at the weekly Israeli Cabinet meeting in Jerusalem on Sunday.
Netanyahu, who leaves for Moscow on Sunday evening, said he would discuss a range of issues with the Russian leadership - "first and foremost the Iranian issue."
He said he would press the case for "crippling sanctions" against Iran during his three-day visit to the Russian capital.
The trip comes just days after Iran announced it would be enriching uranium to higher levels for medical purposes.
That process could be used to build bombs if ramped up further.
Israel, the US and much of the international community think Iran is out to build a bomb, although Tehran denies this.
A Russian company is building Iran''s first nuclear power plant and Moscow traditionally has resisted new sanctions, but senior Russian officials say the new enrichment plans show the suspicions about Iran''s intentions may be well-founded.
In the past, Iran''s President Mahmoud Ahmedinajad has called for the destruction of Israel.
