I’ve been feeding my kids frozen peas and corn straight from the bag for 7 years 😧 so let’s look at the data on whether this is safe or not!
I found a recent article by Consumer Reports where they tested 369 frozen fruit and veg products for E. coli, salmonella, and listeria. They did not detect any bacteria that could make someone ill.
Does that mean it’s completely safe? Essentially every food has a risk of being contaminated, and that possibility is always there (for all types of foods). So yes there is still some risk. Personally I feel okay with it- my kids are not immune compromised and there is a low likelihood of them getting sick.
The safest thing is to heat them properly! So I’m sure someone will tell me I’m a bad mother for putting them at risk but I’m personally not concerned!
