Help us attack "Fort Knoxville." Answering a request from a supporter Bob Wimbrow, who offered us some research assistance, we’ll be talking about several of the Knoxville area's earliest “forts,” "stations," or fortified settlements. We’re approaching the state’s 225th anniversary, and most of the forts we’ll discuss are from that early pioneer and pre-statehood era, from Campbell’s Station to Cavett’s Station—and we’ll be talking some about our most famous fort, arguably also the most successful, having demonstrated its ability to fend off a major pre-dawn assault (as studied in more detail than ever before by KHP's 2021 honorees Dr. Charles and Terry Faulkner, in their latest book), Fort Sanders—and why you can’t see it anymore (or can you?).
