Some Christians believe that before the literal second coming of Jesus Christ there will be a secret rapture that will deliver the saints from seven years of tribulation. Then, the third temple will be built in Jerusalem, the Antichrist will appear, Armageddon will break out; and then Jesus will appear to destroy His enemies and establish His millennial kingdom.

Some adherents of the secret rapture point to verses that say Jesus will come as a thief in the night to support their doctrine. A thief can attack silently and secretly. Also, in Matthew 24:40, it says "one will be taken and the other left" at Jesus' return. Secret rapture teachers claim that the one taken refers to those who will be raptured and the other left are people who will be left behind to face the tribulation. First Thessalonians 3:13 also says that Jesus will return "with all His saints." Is this talking about all of the saints that were raptured before the tribulation?
