A moving work of art, the annual Sidewalk Parade was created through the collaborative vision of Newport’s North End residents, local artists, and art students from Salve Regina University, and facilitated by Salve Professor of Visual Arts Susannah Strong. The Sidewalk Parade wound through the neighborhoods of the North End, unified in celebration of this year's theme “Hope.” Joining the Salve students, faculty and staff who marched in the 2018 parade were representatives of several wonderful local organizations such as the Newport Art Museum, Park Holm Saturday Kids Club, Looking Upwards, FabNewport, Newport County Youth Chorus, Newport Tree Society, Daffodillion, the James L. Maher Center, Rhode Island’s ballet theatre and the Extraordinary Rendition Band.
