Commuters in the East of England are facing severe disruption because of damage to overhead wires in Essex, report BBC News Essex
Abellio Greater Anglia said trains between Norwich and London Liverpool Street are being affected.
Delays are expected until at least 15:00 GMT, Network Rail said.
Greater Anglia has apologised, stating engineers are on site. It has advised against unnecessary travel, but said London commuters are being accepted on trains via Cambridge and Ely.
The wires have been damaged at Kelvedon, blocking the lines.
Empty platforms
Greater Anglia said passengers can continue on the line southbound until Colchester, or northbound until Witham. A limited number of replacement buses are then operating between the two stations.
A number of commuters have been expressing their anger on social media. Terri Harris tweeted: "Can't even get in the station at chelmsford... Platforms are empty!! #ridiculous".
Adam Brown tweeted: "The queue for a bus from Colchester. Approx 500 yards long. Absolutely disgusting."
A spokesman for Greater Anglia apologised for the delays and the disruption to travellers.
"Network Rail engineers are on site and are working as quickly as possible to make repairs to the damage."
