Today was the BIG day. A morning game drive where, hopefully, we'd get to see the endangered Wild Asses of Kutch. Found only in the Little Rann of Kutch desert (and a few remote areas in China). Prepare for even more "wild ass" jokes...just can't help it.
Our jeep with naturalist driver left Dasada and headed around the lakes and marshes first to look at birds. Birders/twitchers, then is the spot for you, not us. I go...duh..."What is that bird with long legs. What is that fat bird?". ...while the guide is going ape-shit. "OMG, Sheila, look. A rare bustard!!" Marvelous. My big excitement was a mongoose crossing the road (looked like a groundhog to me). Rikki-Tikki-Tavi in the flesh! Onwards...
