Telangana, Nov 04 (ANI): Telangana CM KCR handed over a cheque for Rs 417.16 crore to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) chairman and managing director Atul Sobti towards first installment for construction of the 4,000 MW Yadadri Ultra Mega Power Plant (UMPP) at Damaracherla in Nalgonda district. The CM asked the BHEL authorities to ensure quality and speedy execution of the project. The Yadadri power plant assumes significance in view of latest demand for quality and uninterrupted power supply in the state. Speaking at Pragati Bhawan, the CM said, “We need BHEL to take up construction of all five 800 MW units concurrently and complete the project within three years.” BHEL has been entrusted with construction of the Yadadri UMPP at a cost of Rs 20,379 crore making it one of the largest thermal power plants in the country. Besides, completing necessary land acquisition, the power plant also obtained necessary environmental and other clearances. In addition, the BHEL is also taking up construction of two other power projects of TS Genco - 4x270 MW project at Manuguru and 800 MW plant as part of seventh unit of Kothagudem Thermal Power Station. While Kothagudem unit is likely to be ready within two-three months, the Manuguru plant will be completed within a year.
