The Mercedes 500E W124 is a real wolf in sheep's clothing, created in collaboration with designers from Porsche. The entire car was assembled by hand in the Zuffenhausen factory, which contributed to its cult status. This sportier version of the W124 received improved brakes and suspension as well as a V8 unit from the 500 SL. On the outside, it was distinguished by wider wheel arches and wider tires...and that was it. No spoilers, no screaming, no defiant accents. Completely unlike the AMG models of today. This created a purebred sleeper, a car that at first glance reveals nothing of its hidden power. The low production numbers and hand assembly process made this car an instant classic.
