I've been growing some cacti and other succulents since 2018 and what I LOVE THE MOST IS PROPAGATING.
Propagating cacti could be done through seeds and from its offsets. Commonly known as pups or baby cactus, for me the offsets are EASIEST WAY TO PROPAGATE because it needs less time to see the result EVEN IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER in growing cacti.
The MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER in propagating cacti are:
1.) Water the plant a week before propagation so that the offsets have enough food to sustain while being removed from mother plant and waiting to have its own roots.
2.) As much as possible do not remove the pups while the soil is wet because it attracts fungi and bacteria that could infect the fresh wound/cuts on your plant and lead to rotting.
3.) After removing the pups let the wound/cuts to dry in a bright shaded area and form its callus for at least 3 days before planting directly to soil. Callus is a thickened and hardened part of the skin or soft tissue formed over a wound.
4.) Water the soil regularly when it's dry to promote continuous growth of roots from pups.
If you think it's helpful, please CONSIDER SUBSCRIBING, leave a comment and some suggestions. Happy Propagating!
