There are a number of steps that parents and carers can take to prevent online child sexual exploitation.
Supervision is essential, and this means knowing what your children are doing online, who their interacting with, and what apps and platforms they might be using.
Secondly, it’s important to set boundaries for safe technology use at home. And one way to help parents and carers do this is through a family online safety contract which we’ve developed in collaboration with the Carly Ryan Foundation. This contract helps parents and carers have discussions about technology and setting expectations for safe use at home.
