Black 5 45231 replaced 4 locos to run the 4th Dorset Coast Express of the season. Having replaced 34046 Braunton, 70000 Britannia, 34067 Tangmere & 777 Sir Lamiel from the roster. So they called up 45231 having making its first visit since 2008 in the south of england. Having pass Winchester on its route, it would pass by a couple of miles from its old home for couple of years at Mid Hants Railway.
Starting off at Eastleigh where 45231 stopped for an pathing stop to allow couple of service trains to pass. Then bang on time the 5 barked out of the station and pass Eastleigh Works. Back in the 1960's the black 5's sometimes run over the line as required.
Later on the return run. The Class 47 no.47237 brings the train from Weymouth to Southampton where the Black 5 will take it over back to London Waterloo. The duo seen coming though at Redbridge with an nice whistle from 45231. 15 mins later seen appoaching the red signal light at Redbridge then cleared just before i start to pan with an lovely 2 cylinder sound from the loco would take the Romsey line then by-pass Salisbury at Laverstock before taking the London line via Andover.
