"This is the sound of the Pummerin, the famous bell of the Stephansdom in Vienna, Austria, on Easter Sunday 2020. The Pummerin is the third largest swining bell in Europe and has a beautiful sound. The bell only rings eleven times a year at special occasions like New Year, Pentecost, Celebration of the Nation, Christmas... which is why I go to Stephansplatz as often as I can to listen to her deep sound that resonates in my body and waters my eyes. During Holidays there are usually many tourists and locals on the Stephansplatz passing by, laughing, yelling, talking into their phones, cars cruising nearby. As tourism came to a halt during the pandemic, restaurants are closed and people are asked to stay home, this Easter Sunday the sound of the Pummerin could be heard nearly without disturbances. I took the photo already on Good Friday afternoon, but on Easter Sunday the square was similarly empty."
