In April of 2013 we hiked the Yearling Trail to Pat's Island. This historic trail is notable for two reasons: the rare Scrub ecosystem and the site of Marjorie Kennan Rawlings inspiration for her book, "The Yearling." Additionally the site was used for the movie, and we encounter the rare Florida Scrub Jay. The Ocala National Forest is located in Ocala, Florida.
