The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum 2012 summer exhibition Dirt-O-Rama includes a Clayhouse Residency with Arizona clay artists and adobe builders Athena and Bill Steen of The Canelo Project.
For three weeks in July, visitors can watch, and even join in, as three tons of Minnesota clay, burlap, straw, branches and vine are shaped into a playful, child-friendly earthen structure on the lawn at the Learning Center.
Here their thoughts on working with clay and people and see images of the clay model created by Athena of what the Clayhouse may ultimately look like.
