Following the highly anticipated launch of the Yamaha R9 2025, Yamaha introduces the racing evolution for the Supersport World Championship. Many modifications and technological improvements have been made to fit the new sports bike to track use. Let's talk about the updates.
Yamaha unveiled the R9, their new bike for the Supersport World Championship, during the World Superbike Championship's last round in Jerez on Friday. Two bikes were unveiled: a road variant and a race version. The first is traditional blue, while the second is aggressive black and gold, which best depicts the athletic nature of a motorbike that will eventually replace the famous Yamaha R6 in middleweight versions.
Regarding the racing version, the R9 is developed and constructed in accordance with Yamaha's concept, which, in reaction to the decline in sales of mid-size sports bikes, thinks that the bike should be more approachable, not aimed at experienced users, and more practical. for those who want to have some fun on the track without earning too much experience on the sidelines. The R9 is the first of a new generation of Supersports.
The racing variant has the same 119 horsepower three-cylinder CP3 engine as the ordinary road version. To fulfill the curbing standards, the CP3 has been made more "muscular" with a specific control unit, exhaust, and other technological equipment that improves its performance. The chassis is additionally improved with a set of custom springs.
